WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL
BENEFITS OF CHEMICAL PEELS
A chemical peel is an advanced skin resurfacing treatment that uses medical-grade acids to gently exfoliate the outer layers of skin. This process stimulates cell turnover, unveiling brighter, healthier skin while treating common concerns like hyperpigmentation, acne, and aging.
At Akin Aesthetics & Wellness, we customize every peel to match your skin type, sensitivity level, and skincare goals, ensuring you get maximum results with minimal irritation.

FAQ
How long does a chemical peel take?
Most chemical peels take about 30 to 45 minutes. This includes cleansing, the peel application, and post-treatment care.
What should I expect after a chemical peel?
Results depend on the type of peel. After a light peel, you might have mild redness for a few hours. After a medium-depth peel, expect some peeling or flaking over several days as your skin sheds old cells and reveals fresher skin underneath.
How often should I get a chemical peel?
For ongoing skin health, many clients schedule light peels every 4-6 weeks. For more corrective peels, we may recommend a series of treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart. Your provider will create a customized plan based on your skin goals.
Do chemical peels hurt?
Most clients experience a mild tingling, warming, or stinging sensation during the peel, but discomfort is minimal and short-lived. We monitor your comfort throughout the treatment.
Are chemical peels good for acne?
Yes! Salicylic acid peels are especially beneficial for acne-prone skin, helping to clear clogged pores, reduce excess oil, and fade post-acne discoloration.
Is there downtime after a chemical peel?
With superficial peels, there’s typically no downtime — you can go about your day immediately. Medium-depth peels may cause some flaking or peeling for 3-5 days, so we recommend planning your treatments accordingly.
Can I combine a chemical peel with other treatments?
Absolutely. Many clients combine chemical peels with treatments like dermaplaning, or microneedling for enhanced results. We will help you design a comprehensive skin plan during your consultation.
How much does a chemical peel cost at Akin Aesthetics & Wellness?
Pricing depends on the type and depth of peel. We offer individual peels as well as package pricing for clients who want to complete a series of treatments for the best results. You can also save by joining our Akin Membership program.
